The hydra is the worlds first ‘Intelligent Buoyancy Operated Planter’ (iBOP), invented, designed and manufactured in the UK, new and unique for 2014.
The hydra has a three pint (1.7 litres) reservoir in reserve which is taken by the plants automatically on demand. The water level is always visible and the reservoir is easy to fill.
No more worries about being away during hot weather and your plants will thrive due to the consistent moisture level.
The Inner Container rests on the Valve Seal overcoming the buoyancy force of the Reservoir due to its weight. The valve is CLOSED
The weight of the Inner Container drops due to evaporation and plant demand. The Container then floats breaking the Valve Seal allowing fluid from the reservoir to flow into the Inner Container. The Valve is now OPEN.
The Inner Container increases in weight due to fluid intake and overcomes the buoyancy force of the reservoir lowering back onto the Valve Seal stopping fluid flow. The valve is CLOSED.
INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Fit the Screw and Nut to the Green Outer Bowl. 2. Place the ‘Root Deflector’ disc into the raised ring inside the White Bowl. 3. Fill the White Bowl to the top with compost and arrange your plants to your satisfaction. 4. Lower the White Bowl into the Large Outer Bowl. 5. Fit the Chains into the three slots in the Green Outer Bowl and hang your up your Hydra. 6. Fit the 3 clips into the three slots on the lip of the Large Outer Bowl. 7. Pour 2 pints of water into one of the two pouring points and allow the Hydra a few minutes to settle and seal. 8. Top up with more water, there is no limit as the ‘Valve’ inside protects the plants from overwatering.
Over the coming weeks top up with water periodically. The ‘Storm Relief Drain’ should be manually opened during excessive wet weather which will prevent flooding. Automatic watering returns when you close the ‘Storm Relief Drain’.
